ECO4 offers a range of grants to support heating and insulation improvements in homes. Heating grants cover the installation or upgrade of boilers, particularly targeting inefficient systems to enhance energy efficiency. Insulation grants encompass various measures, including loft, cavity wall, solid wall, and floor insulation. These grants aim to reduce heat loss, enhance overall energy efficiency, and contribute to lowering carbon emissions. Homes with low energy performance ratings or those in need, such as those with older heating systems, may qualify for these grants. By addressing both heating and insulation aspects, ECO4 provides a comprehensive approach to creating more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly homes
ECO4 is the latest version of the ECO scheme, targeting lower-income households, it is part of the Government’s strategy to enhance energy efficiency in households that are vulnerable to fuel poverty, where reduced heating costs make the biggest difference to the quality of life.
To qualify for ECO4, eligibility is based on meeting specific criteria set by Ofgem. An individual living at the address where work will be conducted must be on one of the designated benefits, including Income-based Jobseekers Allowance (JSA), Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), Income Support (IS), Pension Credit Guarantee Credit (PCGC), Working Tax Credit (WTC), Child Tax Credit (CTC), Universal Credit (UC), Housing Benefit, Pension Credit Savings Credit (PCSC), and Child Benefit. These criteria ensure that the scheme prioritizes households that may face financial challenges, aiming to provide support to those who need it most. By focusing on individuals receiving these benefits, ECO4 aims to make energy-efficient upgrades accessible to those in vulnerable or low-income situations.
The significance of Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) becomes apparent in addressing the UK’s domestic carbon emissions, with households contributing 26% to the total.
Amidst global climate goals and the UK’s commitment to achieving net-zero greenhouse gases by 2050, reducing the carbon footprint in the rental market is crucial. The government responds to this challenge by proposing stricter EPC regulations, effective by 2025 for new tenancies and 2028 for existing tenancies.
These measures align with environmental sustainability, fostering a greener future for the UK’s housing sector, particularly in the rental market.
With ECO4, you have the opportunity to access up to £10,000 in funding to invest in eco-friendly products and measures. You can use the funding to bring in a range of eco products and measures
The funding for ECO4, which offers free or discounted energy-efficient upgrades, comes from energy companies. As part of the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme, these companies are obligated by the government to contribute to reducing carbon emissions and improving energy efficiency in homes. Energy companies allocate funds for measures such as Cavity Wall Insulation, Boiler Replacement/Upgrade, Heating Controls upgrade, Loft/Room-in-Roof Insulation, Solid Wall Insulation, External Insulation, and more. By investing in these initiatives, energy companies not only fulfill their environmental responsibilities but also contribute to creating more energy-efficient and sustainable homes. The scheme’s financial backing from energy companies ensures that eligible households can access these improvements without incurring direct costs.
If you’re specifically interested in loft insulation, the Great British Insulation Scheme is tailored just for you. While ECO4 focuses on a comprehensive approach to reduce carbon emissions by addressing various aspects of home insulation, the Great British Insulation Scheme hones in on loft insulation.
The Great British Insulation Scheme is designed to specifically tackle heat loss through your roof, ensuring that your home remains energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. This dedicated program targets the containment of heat within your living spaces, contributing to reduced energy consumption and lower carbon emissions.
So, if your primary concern is optimizing loft insulation, the Great British Insulation Scheme is the ideal avenue, providing specialized solutions to enhance your home’s thermal performance and energy efficiency.
As part of the ECO4 Government Grants Scheme, if your current heating system is deemed inefficient during the free retrofit survey, it will be replaced and removed. The objective is to upgrade your heating system to a more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly alternative. By replacing inefficient systems, the scheme aims to enhance the overall energy performance of your home, contributing to reduced carbon emissions and energy consumption.
The removal of old, inefficient heating systems is a crucial step in the process, ensuring that your property is equipped with modern, sustainable heating solutions. This proactive approach not only benefits the environment but also results in improved heating efficiency, potentially leading to lower energy bills and increased home comfort. The scheme prioritizes the replacement of outdated systems with greener alternatives to align with contemporary energy standards.
Under the ECO4 Government Grants Scheme, well-insulated properties have the potential to significantly reduce their energy bills, with savings often reaching up to 50%. Adequate insulation, whether it’s cavity wall, loft, or internal wall insulation, acts as a barrier, preventing heat loss and ensuring a more energy-efficient home.
Proper insulation helps to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature, reducing the need for excessive heating or cooling. This, in turn, leads to substantial cost savings on energy bills. The scheme’s focus on comprehensive insulation measures aims to make homes more energy-efficient, aligning with sustainability goals and providing financial relief to homeowners. By investing in insulation through the ECO4 scheme, residents can enjoy long-term energy savings and contribute to the overall reduction of carbon emissions.
Regrettably, the ECO4 Government Grants Scheme does not provide a specific program for free solar panels. However, if your property relies on electricity and your existing heating system is deemed inefficient, our scheme offers the opportunity for an upgrade. In addition to enhancing your heating system, we can explore the possibility of incorporating solar panels into the overall energy-efficient solution for your property.
While solar panels may not be available for free under the ECO4 scheme, the comprehensive approach aims to address various aspects of energy efficiency, providing homeowners with a well-rounded solution to reduce both costs and environmental impact. Certainly! If your loft is already insulated, that’s a positive step towards energy efficiency. However, our comprehensive approach under the ECO4 Government Grants Scheme involves assessing all potential areas of heat loss. The focus extends beyond the loft to include the insulation of walls, as they play a significant role in retaining heat.
Walls are a crucial element in the insulation strategy, as a substantial portion of heat is lost through them. Our aim is to create a well-rounded solution tailored to your property, ensuring that all aspects contributing to heat loss are addressed. By considering both loft and wall insulation, we maximize the efficiency of your home, providing a more effective and holistic energy-saving solution. If you have any questions or would like further details, feel free to get in touch.

Feel free to take advantage of this opportunity to explore how our scheme can benefit your property and contribute to a greener and more energy-efficient home without worrying about any associated costs.
Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) are like the multicoloured stickers on new appliances. They tell you how energy efficient a building is and give it a grade from A (very efficient) to G (not very efficient) (inefficient). They will tell you how much it will cost to heat and light your home and how much carbon dioxide it will give off.
An EPC also tells you what your energy efficiency rating could be if you made the suggested changes and shows you how to improve your rating in a cost-effective way. Even if you rent your home, you could still make some of the changes listed on the EPC.
After they are given out, EPCs are good for 10 years.
